North Carolina (NC) standing timber prices trend upward in the fourth quarter 2022 for all major pine and hardwood products compared to the third quarter 2022. The upward trend in NC stumpage prices is in line with south-wide averages and seasonal norms. Price increased between 0% and 13% across all pine and hardwood product classes. The largest increase, 13%, occurred for oak sawtimber. Mixed hardwood sawtimber and pine chip-n-saw product classes saw virtually no change in price between third quarter 2022 and fourth quarter 2022. Even though prices have increased in the fourth quarter 2022 compared to the previous quarter, prices continue to be down compared to the fourth quarter 2021.
