Historic annual price data for standing timber from 1976-2023 and for timber delivered to mills from 1988-2023 for North Carolina are reported for four timber product categories (pine sawtimber and pulpwood, and mixed hardwood sawtimber and pulpwood) for Western North Carolina, Eastern North Carolina, State of North Carolina and the Southeast United States. The price data are reported as average market prices.

Historic price data for standing timber across North Carolina is available from Forest-2-Market and TImber Mart-South. The data from Forest-2-Market is in the table below and is reported every quarter from the third quarter of 2005 to the fourth quarter of 2014. The data includes average prices by region for pine and hardwood sawtimber, pine chip-n-saw, pine and hardwood pulpwood, red and white oak sawtimber, and yellow poplar sawtimber. This information is available in PDF file format and is available free for downloading. A free PDF reader can be downloaded from Adobe. The data from Timber Mart-South is available on our Quarterly Price Reports page and covers every quarter from the first quarter of 2015 to the present. The North Carolina Standing Timber Price Report provides state-wide average prices for standing timber (stumpage) for pine, oak, and mixed hardwood sawtimber, pine chip-n-saw, and pine and hardwood pulpwood. These reports are available in PDF file format and are available free for downloading.
