Getting trees out of the forest and into the aisles of your local home improvement store is a feat of modern engineering. Ever wonder how a massive log becomes a stack of perfect 2x4s in seconds?
Join NC State Extension Forestry for an exclusive look inside the Troy Lumber Company. This tour offers a front-row seat to the entire primary processing journey:
· Receiving & Debarking: How raw logs are prepared.
· The Sawline: Precision cutting technology in action.
· Sorting & Logistics: How lumber is organized and staged for global shipment.
Safety & Gear:
Sawmills are loud, active, and fascinating environments.
To keep everyone safe:
· Required: You must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.
· PPE: Hard hats and earplugs are required. Please bring your own if you have them; otherwise, we will provide them on-site.
