Learn about the successes and challenges of managing healthy longleaf habitat from professionals and other landowners.
Join us for a fun and interactive Field Day on a private tract of land in Richmond County! This is a free, in-person event and great opportunity for participants to connect with like-minded landowners and professionals to learn about habitat enhancement as we discuss the benefits of prescribed fire, native plants, and beneficial insects in your landacape. We will walk through various sites to discuss burning in wetlands, invasive species management, and pine thinning to encourage herbaceous groundcover. We will also have equipment onsite to demonstrate tools that will be useful for successful management.
The property we will visit is located in Hoffman; participants will receive the address after registration. Please wear appropriate attire for being in the field, including long pants and close-toed shoes as we are likely to walk up to 1/2 mile along easy terrain. Feel free to bring sunscreen and bug spray in case of biting insects. Lunch will be provided so bring a camp/folding chair if you are not comfortable sitting on a tailgate, vehicle, or the ground. This is a space-limited event so please only register if you are certain you can attend.
