North Carolina is #1 in the nation for farm loss, losing an estimated 100,000 acres of farm and forestland annually. Primarily, it is lost to low-density residential development. Many landowners may be encouraged to retain their land if they understood its true value and potential.
This workshop series, directed at North Carolina landowners, will bring local farmers, landowners, and resource providers together for a workshop focused on forest management and restoration, income-producing opportunities, and a discussion about heirs property and succession planning. This event is designed for agricultural and forestry landowners, but all are welcome.
Join us for an interactive workshop at First Fruits Farm where you will hear from a variety of speakers and have a chance to interact with attorneys and nonprofit farmland preservation and conservation organizations including the Land Loss Prevention Project, Black Family Land Trust, Inc., Roanoke Cooperative's Sustainable Forestry and Land Retention Project, and North Carolina Agricultural Mediation Program.
The event begins at 9:30 am and concludes at 3 pm. Attendance free and lunch is provided, but registration is required. To register please click here.
