Turfgrass Student Matt Jeffries Receives Future Leaders in Science Award

Turfgrass doctoral student Matt Jeffries has been selected to receive the 2016 Future Leaders in Science Award from the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America. With his fellow honorees, he will participate in the 2016 Congressional Visits Day on March 14-15 in Washington, D.C. Matt was selected for this highly competitive award because “your application expressed an impressive enthusiasm for both research and advocacy.”  

Of his award, Matt says, "I am very appreciative of the support received from my advisors to pursue this award and exceptionally excited to participate in the event next month!"

He is completing his PH.D. studies in Crop Science – Pesticide Environmental Fate under the direction of Drs. Travis Gannon and Fred Yelverton with a doctoral dissertation entitled, “Off-Target Pesticide Displacement and Fate in Turfgrass, Riparian and Aquatic Systems.”
