Description: Cooperative Extension Service: Wildland Fire Workshop

When: Wednesday, May 7th-Friday, May 9th

Where: NC State University, Jordan Hall Addition, Room 1214
*Field trip on Thursday to Moore County Extension Center and Landowner Property (transportation provided)

A free, in-person workshop based in and around Raleigh, NC for extension professionals across the country interested in learning more about wildland fire. The workshop will include:

Presentations and hands-on activities related to extension wildland fire programs
- Discussions of strategies for fire science communication and education
- Meeting with a local prescribed burn association
- Participation in a prescribed burn (weather permitting)

Registration Deadline:
Please register by no later than May 26, 2023. Seats are limited.

This workshop complements the asynchronous online course, “Cooperative Extension Service: Prescribed Fire” (https://go.ncsu.edu/cesrxfire). Participants are recommended (but not required) to complete the special synchronous session of this course in May, prior to the workshop. View more details about the online course.

Where to stay:
Lodging is not included in your registration.  Participants must make and are responsible for their own overnight reservations.  There are several hotels in the area in addition to room blocks being held at the following locations:

-Tucker Hall (residence hall on the NC State campus - 0.6 miles/approximately 12-minute walk to JHA)
$31 per night, single occupancy
$25 one-time linen charge (includes two flat sheets, one blanket, a pillow with pillowcase, one towel, and one washcloth, plus an individual soap, shampoo and conditioner container)
Room block is being held through May 22, 2023.

If you wish to reserve a room at Tucker Hall, please add the appropriate number of nights to your cart when registering for the workshop. You will be charged for the room during checkout. If you need to cancel this reservation for any reason, you will receive a full refund--less a 3.5% processing fee--if your request is received by May 22.  After May 22, no refunds are available. Tucker Hall cancellation requests should be submitted in writing to CNR Continuing and Professional Education at cnr-cpe-office@ncsu.edu.
